Corendon Airlines have broken away from pressure mounted by the Greek Cypriots and are now offering flights direct from Amsterdam to Northern Cyprus via a short touch in Turkey. The ground breaking news is set to pave the way for more international airlines, from Europe and the Middle East, to follow suite which should see increasing numbers of tourists flocking to the sunshine of Northern Cyprus.

The airline, which moved nearly one million passengers around the globe through 2010, state on their website that they want to show their support to all Turkish Cypriots and the islands Tourism sector. They plan to bring 25,000 tourists to North Cyprus through 2011 and flights have now been running since May of this year. If all goes well it is hoped that in 2012 that figure could double to over 50,000 passengers – exciting times ahead.
